RELIABILITY ENGINEER Job Details
Job Description

Critical Job Elements:
The Staff Reliability Engineer is primarily responsible for the overall specification and compliance to Design for Reliability principles of our new and existing systems, blades and solutions; for ensuring establishment of processes that consistently deliver best-in-class reliability and for instilling reliability engineering principles and awareness in the cross functional team(s) supporting Radisys products and customers. The role includes the assessment of reliability levels, driving cross functional and organization teams to improve reliability, failure analysis, design of experiments, interaction with engineering, manufacturing, NPI teams, customers and business units utilizing prediction and modeling methodologies, structured problem solving tools and techniques and the completion of tasks and objectives that support product reliability improvement.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Provides advanced reliability modeling of complex systems. Models include multiple levels of redundancy and require detailed reports supporting resultant reliability metrics (Availability, MTTR, MTTF/MTBF, etc)
Provides reliability design phase resources including review and approval of DfR metrics such as component derating, MTBF/ERI/DOA calculations to support corporate goals and requirements.
Provides Physics of Failure subject area expertise to the component level of highly complex assemblies including discrete, integrated circuit, linear and analog components.
Maintains leading edge knowledge of emerging technology risks as related to Q&R
Develops detailed Reliability Test plans as needed in support of NPI
Creates technical papers to support marketing needs for existing and emerging markets.
Provides oversight of overseas NPI Quality Engineers, leads review of ongoing QRE NPI data
Provides detailed cost estimates for reliability impacts to manufacturing/warranty costs for NPI
Provides technical leadership in the field of environmental test
Provides technical resource for statistical analysis of data to all functions in RSYS
Ability to interface directly with key customers and provide highly technical explanations of reliability features and functions of products
Design/develop/implement HALT Processes and programs for new product designs
Design/develop/implement Reliability Demonstration Tests (RDT) for Rack Mount Server products
Review Engineering Design Validation(DVT) and Compliance Test Plans and Results and assess quality/reliability risks

Skills

Qualifications:
BS degree or MS degree in mathematics, engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience working as a Quality or Reliability Engineer (8-10 years).
ASQ Certified Quality or Reliability Engineer preferred
Proven ability to lead and instill quality processes and methods and engender enthusiasm for quality in cross functional teams.
Expert working knowledge of reliability prediction standards including MIL215-FN2, MIL217+, Telecordia SR332, Siemens SN29500, PRISM
Experience with agency approval processes.
Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE)
Good structured problem solving and failure analysis skills.
Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certification a plus
Experience with Excel and Agile software is a plus.
Self motivated with good organization skills and habits.
Proficiency at multi-tasking required and Good Presentation Skills
